Heading into the Holiday Season

As we head into the Holiday Season, be sure to keep non-profits like ours in mind. While it is easy to fall into the Christmas shopping hype of buying up the latest video games and whatever version of Tickle-Me-Elmo has come out this year, remember that Habitat can only survive off of the donations of its supporters.

So, maybe one less video game or trinket gets purchased this year and you make one more donation to a worthy mission? Or, even better yet, start up a trend with your family and friends by donating in the name of someone.

There are few gifts more rewarding then eliminating poverty housing worldwide and making sure that children -- many of whom rarely get to experience Christmas -- have a roof over their heads and solid foundation under their feet.

Change the world this Christmas!

Help Build A House

Women are raising funds for Habitat for Humanity of Horry County's 99th house - the third Women Build-sponsored home, the affiliate's first LEED house, and the first 5-bedroom home built by volunteers.

Thank you for your efforts in making a difference in a family's life and for helping to build simple, decent, affordable housing in Horry County. Women Build construction begins Sept. 19.

Habitat for Humanity of Horry County needs help. Women Build must raise $30,000.

In Mark 12, a woman gives a fraction of a penny, which was "all that she had" (v. 44). Jesus honored that little bit. Her sacrifice is an encouraging example to all.

Please consider this kind of generosity. Help us make affordable housing a reality in Horry County. When we give all we can, Jesus honors it.

Think with your heart; give with your hand; and help build a house. Thank you!

Assistant Executive Director
Habitat for Humanity of Horry County

Bringing Down the House!

Now this is how you take down a house! This home sits on a recently subdivided piece of property that will soon have five Habitat homes on it right here in the heart of Myrtle Beach! The home has been vacant for some time now and was being used as a 'drug shelter' at times. Habitat cleaned the location out this past week and will fully demolish the home the week of July 13th!

The tree that landed on this home during the clearing out of the lot was of tremendous size, around 15' feet in diameter and almost 200' tall. Unfortunately the tree sat right in the middle of the area that needed to be built on for this Habitat home.
